The Kiltmaker and The Prince of Wales

An unforgettable moment for the GNK Family occurred in March 2022.
Our very own EKA graduate turned Kiltmaker, now Marketing & Media Assistant, Emma Wilkinson was honoured to have the opportunity to meet HRH The Prince of Wales at St James Palace in London.

Emma is the first kiltmaker ever to be supported by the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust. The Trust's Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales met with just 15 scholars as part of the Trust's 30th anniversary celebrations, to discuss their work and ambitions for the future of their crafts.

"This is truly a stand out moment in my career. To be able to represent not only the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust but also Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers, Edinburgh Kiltmakers Academy and those of us in the world of kiltmaking committed to moving forward while preserving the past, was an honour. I was able to chat with HRH The Prince of Wales briefly about my work as a kiltmaker for GNK and time studying at EKA thanks to QEST support, as well as discuss briefly my vision for the future of kiltmaking."
