Corporate Tartan Design Policy

Thank you for choosing GNK for your corporate event. We will do everything we can to ensure your group make the most of their Scottish experience.  


It is important that you use the information issued in this document and read it all carefully.

Tartan Design

  • We require a minimum of 3 colours for a tartan to be designed, but 4 – 6 colours are considered standard and will give you more design options. We then come back with 6 designs for you to choose from and edit.
  • Colours can be chosen from a large colour palette including Pantone colours.
  • The tartan is registered on the Scottish Register of Tartans, and you will receive a framed Certificate of Registration.
  • All cloth and items are produced in Scotland to the highest quality by skilled makers and weavers.
  • A vector file can be supplied so the tartan can be used on anything for corporate identity.
  • All cloth is woven doublewidth (150cm wide). Cloth can be woven to any length, but the most common lengths are as follows:
    10 metres
    30 metres (half bale)
    60 metres (full bale)
    We can assist in determining the required amount of fabric if a list of chosen products is provided

Tartan Design Terms & Conditions

  • There are minimum quantities required with some products, and some can only be woven in batches – these quantities cannot be adjusted.
  • We require a minimum 6 months for a tartan to be woven and products to be made. If your event is in less than 6 months, please get in touch and we will see what options are available.
  • Once the tartan has been signed off there can be no changes to the design or quantity of fabric ordered.
  • Quantities of products can be changed up to 4 weeks before the event, but we cannot guarantee all changes will be possible.

Our supply mills incorporate a 15% margin in their weaving policy. Because of the weaving process it is impossible to weave the exact finished length ordered so this means they reserve the right to weave 15% more or less fabric than is ordered and will charge for the final amount woven.

We also reserve the right to charge for the final amount woven, but we can only confirm this when we receive the fabric from the mill.  It is at your discretion whether we
weave an additional 15% to accommodate this margin.
